Hm. What to say?

I have an unhealthy addiction to Jeeps. I mention this first because as far as extra curricular activities go in my life, this takes the #1 spot by a very large margin.  Ok, maybe it’s not that unhealthy. It gets me out of the house, I meet new people, and it gives me an excellent place to spend any extra money. I wheel (4×4) whenever I can. We make trips all over the place semi-close to Edmonton. Anywhere from about 30 minutes to 4-5 hours drive away. I take photos of the “events”, and publish them along with trip reports, videos, and lots of general info on maintaining and fixing my Jeep TJ on http://myjeeptj.com. “They” say it’s not just a Jeep, it’s a way of life. I truly believe this.. I could not have asked for a better hobby.

I used to work all sorts of computer related jobs, from tech work, tech support, network operations, etc. I decided I didn’t really like sitting behind a desk all day against my will so I got a job as a press brake operator. I’ve been there for a year+ now, and I’m enjoying it. I build parts for my jeep, and it’s taught me a ton about fabrication. I get to leave my job every day with a feeling of accomplishment. I have tactile products that I create. I can see and touch them, and the more effort I put into my job, the higher quality products our shop produces. I alone make almost every part that our shop uses, and all the fitters, welders, and fabricators in our shop turn all the parts into cool stuff. We mostly fabricate trailers, gravel boxes, and truck accessories. This includes large bumpers, cab guards, fenders, cabinets, and hydraulic tanks for semi trucks, 18′ to 26′ long gravel haulers, and huge 40-100 ton trailers for hauling heavy equipment. The gravel boxes and aluminum work are my favourite. We usually get them polished, and the finished product looks amazing.

I would ultimately like to start my own business fabricating aftermarket Jeep parts. I have drawings that I created for my own jeep that would get me off to a good start. I’ve created a few things for my jeep as well that turned out very nice. I would like to use this, coupled with the large amount of people on my jeep club’s website to start a business. If I can sell as little as 10-15 products a month I think I would be able to do it full time. This is just a semi-educated guess… I might be completely off the wall.

Aside from all that, I spend quite a bit of time on the computer itself, playing the occasional game, and updating my website(s). I do a small amount of web design on the side, but that’s not that often. My portfolio can be seen at http://pixelverge.com. http://myjeeptj.com and reading/posting on various jeep and 4×4 related forums takes up most of my time spent on the computer. And also: Rock Band kicks ass. I’m addicted to the drums.. but I broke the kick pedal and need to find a better replacement to fuel my fire.

I love metal, metalcore, and Michael Bolton. Just kidding about Bolton, he sucks cock.

I have two cats (Pickles and Jackie), and they are a blast. I also have a semi-empty 50 gallon fish tank (it has 1 Pleco on it). Hopefully soon I will get off my ass and stock it up and get back into having a fish tank, it’s been sitting vacant like that for a while. I live with a roommate and my brother. My brother has a Jeep TJ too, so we spend quite a lot of time together.

That’s all for now…
